FAMILY SPOTLIGHT:

MEET AMANDA HUSTON

Woman, smiling, with brown shoulder length hair sitting with black and brown dog in her lap

When you meet Amanda Huston, she’ll probably have a pet happily sitting in her lap. That’s because two years ago, Amanda started a pet sitting business called Fur Babies.

Born with spinal cerebellar ataxia, optic atrophy and progressive hearing loss, Amanda loves to stay busy. When she’s not pet sitting, you may find her speeding across the water in her wheelchair water ski.

A resident of Austin, TX, Amanda also attends Austin Community College. She is a happy, successful DeafBlind young adult who loves to stay busy and spend her free time with family & friends. The family photo, below, was taken the day after her brother and sister-in-law’s wedding. L-R, meet brother Anthony, his wife, Melinda, Amanda’s Dad and Mom, and Amanda. Amanda’s mom, Kim, has been a member of NFADB for 16 years and currently serves on the board.
