My
husband Neal and I have two young
children, Matthew and Megan. Megan
is thirteen and deaf-blind as a result of a congenital disorder called CHARGE
Syndrome. Prior to my daughter's birth, I worked in the field of Special Education
as a guidance counselor for children with visual impairments, deaf-blindness
and multiple disabilities. This did not make the acceptance of my daughter's
needs any easier, but it certainly helped to have information and supports. I
would like to provide other families with the same supports and information
